Ex-FM Sees No Justification For Unilateral Sanctions On Iran

Islamabad, April 3, IRNA – Pakistan’s Former Foreign Minister on Monday said that there is no justification for unilateral sanctions against Islamic Republic of Iran. Talking to IRNA Khurshid Mehmood Kasuri of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf said that US has failed to get support of United Nations Security Council (UNSC) prominent members on Iran sanctions. “In principal I believe that unilateral sanctions are not justified, it is not a good idea at all,” he said. Expressing his views the senior political leader said that they (West) is trying to change the governments in Syria and Iran. “I believe that being a signatory to the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) Iran has a right for enrichment of uranium for peaceful purposes,” added Khurshid Mehmood Kasuri. The Former Foreign Minister went on to say that so far International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has not reported any thing against the peaceful nature of Iran’s nuclear program. Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei has already termed making of nuclear weapon as un-Islamic. Mr. Kasuri expressing his views said as Iranian leadership has adopted a clear policy on its nuclear program so there is no reason left for the IAEA or any other organization to doubt Iran’s nuclear program. He strongly believed that Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline project is highly significant for Pakistan and should be completed at the earliest. To a question Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader said that US has to revise its aggressive policies. “They have experienced failure of their policies in Iraq and Afghanistan, they have got nothing form these two wars except massive human losses,” he said. The Former foreign minister said US has to pay the price of its wrong policies. “Its economy is deteriorating and the country is passing through an economic crisis these days,” said Mr. Kasuri. He warned that the prices of oil will go sky high in case of any action against Iran. “US cannot escape from the consequences of its hostile policies,” opined the politician. Khurshid Mehmood Kasuri said that Israel is trying to take advantage of American election year; they are bringing Obama under pressure by influencing American Jewish lobby./end
