Expert: Regional convergence, only way to restore Afghan peace

Kabul, Nov 22, IRNA – An Afghan expert said convergence and regional cooperation were the only ways to restore peace and stability to both Afghanistan and the whole region. Abdul Latif Nazari told IRNA on Saturday that Afghanistan will be able to attain sustainable peace and security by involving itself in regional cooperation. He noted that in the past, western countries tried to influence Afghan foreign policies with the purpose of securing their own interests which seemingly resulted in distrust of some regional countries towards Kabul. That is why, he said, experts believe that Afghanistan will fully achieve success if it cuts reliance on the West and tries to enhance cooperation with regional countries to promote its security and economic status./end
