Firouzabadi: Iran Played A Role In Syria’s Reformist Plans

Tehran, May 29, IRNA – Armed Forces Chief of Staff Major General Hassan Firouzabadi said here on Tuesday that Iran played a role in many reformist plans undertaken by the Syrian government. Talking to reporters on the sideline of a national gathering on sustainable security, he said certain countries handed over the arms supplied by the Zionist regime to culprits who are recruited by the hegemonic powers and interfered in Syria’s internal affairs. Stressing that Iran is not the enemy of the Syrian nation, he said Iran’s support for Damascus is rooted from the teachings and beliefs of the Father of the Islamic Revolution, the Late Imam Khomeini. He said the Zionist regime massacred the Syrian nation by using the arms supplied by the western countries. Major general Firouzabadi also noted that Syria is the only country which has stood against the Zionist regime in the past four decades and stressed that Iran is backing Damascus for this very reason. He said Iran favored security in Syria for the simple reason that it wanted the country which stands in the front-line of resistance against the Zionist regime to be secure and safe./end
