First CanSat launching competition runs

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The very first national competition of launching the CanSat satellite took place Sunday on "Yaarmag" hill. The action was arranged under auspices of the Prime Minister N.Altankhyag. At opening ceremony of the competition, the Premier underlined an importance of this competition in implementing the "National Satellite" programme, which has been adopted by a governmental resolution. In frames of this programme, Mongolia intends to launch two satellites of communications and renaissance and to become a satellite user country by 2015. It is considered that the national competition would attract Mongolian engineers, scholars and students to developing of the space science and technologies and to launching and using satellites, to exploiting amateur satellites at international level, and to developing the space engineering and education in Mongolia. Organized by the Information, Communications Technology and Post Authority, the first national competition has brought together six teams from universities. These participants are sponsored by the "Information, Communication Network" state-owned company, "Mongolian Telegram" company, "Mobicom" Corporation, by "Orbitnet", "Incomenet” and "G-Mobile" companies.
