FM: Afghan Nationals Should Travel To Iran Legally

Tehran, May 19, IRNA – Foreign Minister Ali-Akbar Salehi said here Sunday that Afghan nationals should travel to Iran legally. Salehi made the remarks in a meeting with visiting Afghanistanˈs Chief Justice Abdul Salam Azimi. Referring to the common history and culture shared by both nations, he said presence of Afghan nationals in Iran could play a pivotal role in reinforcing mutual cooperation. Pointing to Iran-Afghanistan joint border lines, Salehi reiterated that the two sides are willing to safeguard regional security and joint interests. Azimi, for his part, appreciated the hospitality of the Iranian government and nation in hosting millions of Afghan refugees in the past three decades. He also stressed the need to facilitate issuing visas for Afghan nationals aimed at reducing their illegal entrance into Iran. Azimi, heading a ranking delegation, arrived in the Iranian capital on Saturday to discuss issues of mutual interest with Iranian officials./end
