FM: Any Nuclear Agreement Must Respect Iranˈs Right To Enrichment

Tehran, May 12, IRNA – Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif in a meeting here with former director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Hans Blix said Iranˈs right to enrichment is inalienable and it is believed that any nuclear agreement should make it possible for the country to use its legitimate right. Zarif underlined that the main problem existed in Iranˈs nuclear dispute with West was ˈmutual distrustˈ between both sides. Tehran has tried to meet its demands in the field of peaceful nuclear energy relying on its domestic capabilities since western states failed to meet their commitments towards the country, said Zarif. Meanwhile, Blix, who chairs the Swedish Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) Commission, welcomed the Geneva deal signed by Iran and the Group 5+1 in November 2013. He expressed hope that nuclear talks between the two sides would lead to a final agreement and both sides would respect assurances provided in the Geneva deal./end
