FM Calls For Continued Iran-Qatar Consultations

Tehran, Oct 8, IRNA – Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif underlined the need for Iran and Qatar to continue with consultations to solve the regional issues by the diplomatic channels. In a meeting with the outgoing Qatari Ambassador to Iran Ibrahim Abdul Rahman Al-Moghaisib, Zarif said that he held talks with his Qatari counterpart on the sidelines of the 68th UN General Assembly. Zarif said that the current developments in the region are sensitive including continued violence and extremism in Syria. Zarif appreciated the ambassador’s efforts to promote bilateral ties during his mission in Iran and wished success for him. “Iran and Qatar, as the two neighboring Muslim states enjoy numerous commonalities, have various areas of cooperation in the political and economic fields,” he said. Zarif said that the two countries enjoy diverse capacities to develop economic cooperation and hoped that bilateral ties will further bolster through the implementation of the agreements already signed. The Qatari outgoing ambassador, for his part, appreciated cooperation of the Iranian officials with him during his mission. He said that Qatari high-ranking officials have firm resolve to deepen relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran in all the fields. Al-Moghaisib hoped that bilateral ties will further develop./end
