FM: Geneva Talks Drove Israeli Lobby In US To Isolation

Tehran, March 17, IRNA – Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said on Sunday that Geneva talks drove the Israeli lobby in the United States to isolation the worst in the past 30 years. Zarif made the remarks in an interview with Iran Persian newspaper on Sunday. ˈWe should appreciate the meritorious service of the negotiating team.ˈ Criticizing the confrontation the western governments adopted against Iran in the past eight years, he said that the western approach toward Iran had been in contravention of the international law. ˈForeign policy should be away from political inclination of political groups,ˈ he said. The problem is that all those who make criticism about Geneva talks have access to classified documents and even release them without any coordination, Zarif said. ˈDisclosure of classified documents will backfire and give suitable room to the other side to read our cards,ˈ he said. In nuclear talks the two sides should use one langue as use of translator will be regarded as a hurdle in transferring some necessary concepts, he said. The best interpreter can convey only 70 percent of concept of the agreement, he underlined. The issue of nuclear talks is very professional and no one can have a say in all scientific fields and every one should mind its own professional criteria, he said. The significant role of negotiating team should be heeded especially under pressure exerted by the UN security council and the stand adopted by the west against Iran, Zarif said. He said that he believes that the Geneva talks prevented escalation of tension in the region. He expressed gratitude to the Supreme Leader for the guidelines and appreciated the views of President Hassan Rouhani paving the way for a landmark agreement with the western governments./end
