FM Official: Those Supporting Dispatch Of Arms to Syria Responsible For Massacre Of Nation

Tehran, June 23, IRNA – Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir Abdollahian said those who support dispatch of arms to Syria are indeed responsible for massacre of the nation and regional insecurity. Talking to IRNA on Sunday, the official made the remarks in reaction to the so-called meeting of the Syria friends in Doha, Qatar. He noted that Damascus has gone through the crisis successfully and a few terrorist and armed groups still existing in the country are now paralyzed and incapable of doing anything. However, he added, some foreign elements are trying to serve their own interests by encouraging dispatch of arms to the country and carrying out terrorist actions there. He stressed that both Washington and London have made numerous strategic errors in the region including in Syria. The Foreign Ministry official described the recent attempts of the US and the West to find a diplomatic solution to the Syrian crisis as “too late but crucial” and said the US has to stop its hostile attitudes towards regional developments. He urged Washington not to insist on supporting terrorism, massacre of people and destruction of infra-structures in Syria. Instead it ought to back cessation of violence and support national dialog in Syria./end
