FM Official: Yemeni Gov’t Responsible For Safety Of Kidnapped Iranian Diplomat

Tehran, July 23, IRNA – Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir Abdollahian said the Yemeni government is responsible for the safety of the kidnapped Iranian diplomat. Talking to IRNA on Tuesday, he outlined the situation of the attaché of Iran’s embassy in Yemen Nour Ahmad Nikbakht who was kidnapped in Sanaa by an armed group. He stressed the responsibility of Yemeni government to protect foreign diplomats, noting that Yemeni officials have already taken extensive measures to identify the elements responsible for the kidnapping. He hoped such measures would bear fruit very soon by release of the kidnapped Iranian diplomat./end
