FM RECEIVES US AMBASSADOR

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Minister of Foreign Affairs L.Purevsuren received the Ambassador of the USA to Mongolia Piper A.Campbell on December 23 at the latter’s request. They discussed about current state of Mongolia-US relations and cooperation and future objectives. At the beginning of the meeting, Ms Campbell congratulated the Minister for being appointed to the office. She presented the key events held last month in frames of the relations between the two countries and shared her opinion on the further actions. The Minister gave information about the objectives of the new cabinet and new structure of the Ministry, and expressed his position on the development of the bilateral cooperation. In particular, Mr Purevsuren thanked the MCC for signing up Mongolia once again to the assistance of Millennium Challenge Account. He promised that the Government will appoint a working group in charge of required studies and negotiations in near future, and will prepare to receive the negotiating team of the USA. The sides agreed to hold the meetings of the US-Mongolia Council for Trade and Investment, which is a same mechanism as consultation between the foreign ministries, within the first quarter of 2015.
