FM rejects claims on Taliban’s presence in Iran

TEHRAN, Nov. 15 (MNA) – Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Ghasemi has announced that the reports on presence of Taliban elements in Iran are groundless. The official made the remarks in response to the news published by some Afghan media on the presence of a number of Taliban leaders in Iran. FM Spokesperson Ghasemi clarified that the claims on arrival of Taliban members in Iran are completely baseless adding “Tehran’s relations with Kabul have been founded on friendly and brotherly grounds as the two governments seek common interests and security.” Iran has earlier rejected Taliban claim of receiving support from Tehran, saying the claim is a ‘desperate attempt to distract world public opinion from the crimes of Saudi Arabia in Yemen’.
