FM Spokesman Condoles Americans On Oklahoma Tornado

Tehran, May 22, IRNA – Foreign Ministry Spokesman Abbass Araqchi on Tuesday issued a message of condolence on a tornado which hit US state of Oklahoma leaving many people dead and injured. Araqchi in the message voices sympathy with the families of the victims on the incident. Relief workers searched for survivors trapped under the rubble of homes, schools and a hospital in an Oklahoma town hit by a powerful tornado, but American officials on Tuesday sharply lowered the number of deaths caused by the storm. According to a reuters report, the Oklahoma state medical examinerˈs office said 24 bodies had been recovered from the wreckage of Mondayˈs storm, down from the 51 they had reported earlier. The earlier number likely reflected some double-counted deaths, said Amy Elliott, chief administrative officer for the medical examiner./end
