FM Spokesman Dismisses PGCC-US Anti-Iran Claims

Tehran, Oct 2, IRNA -- Iran on Monday dismissed as “hostile and baseless” anti-Iran claims raised in the joint declaration of the foreign ministers of the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council (PGCC) and the United States. Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast said that misunderstanding of regional conditions and developments by certain countries and unwise and ambitious intervention of the US in regional affairs are two major factors leading to instability and insecurity in the Persian Gulf region. Mehmanparst said the Islamic Republic of Iran has proved its serious adherence to regional peace and stability and good neighborly ties with the regional states. He added that the Islamic Republic of Iran meanwhile considers military and security intervention of the US and its allies in regional affairs such as Syria developments as cause of continued tension, instability and bloodshed in the region. He said the Islamic Republic of Iran’s nuclear activities are fully transparent and peaceful and within framework of the international conventions as well as the regulations of the International Atomic Energy Agency. He said the US government officials have always created negative atmosphere and doubt in the world public opinion, trying to reverse path of the Iran-G5+1 talks and confront Iranian nation’s endeavor to achieve its legitimate rights./end
