FM spokesman: Iran looking for stability, security in region

Tehran, June 11, IRNA – Iran is after promoting stability, security and fighting terrorism in the region, said Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qasemi on Monday. 'Iran's regional stance, for those who understand, is quite transparent,' Qasemi told reporters during his weekly press briefing. Answering a question on Iran's future role in Syria, Qasemi said that Tehran will continue its cooperation with Damascus until complete annihilation of terrorism in Syria and establishment of peace and security in the country. 'Iran's presence in Syria, as repeatedly announced, is based on a formal request from the government in the country and it is aimed at fighting terrorism,' he stressed. Qasemi said that the Zionist regime of Israel is behind the psychological warfare against Iran. He said that the accusations are the result of an Israeli game of blames. Responding to a question on claims by the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu about Iran's urgent need to address the issue of drought in the country, Qasemi said that Netanyahu's comments do not deserve even an answer. 'I don't know why we should answer the claims made by this showman,' the foreign ministry spokesman said. 'Of course, I think since he has not managed to change the Europeans' views on the Iran Deal during his tour of the Continent, now he is embarking on such a deceitful measure against Iran,' he said. 'Netanyahu is better stop going on with his crimes and child killings; he does not need to be concerned about drought in Iran,' Qasemi added. 1378/IRNA
