FM Spokesman: UN HR Report, Politically-motivated, Unreal

Tehran, March 14, IRNA – Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast said the report by the United Nations special rapporteur for human rights was unreal and politically-motivated. During his press briefing on Tuesday, he stressed that there will be nothing more than these unreal reports as long as they are compiled through political motivations based on news provided by terrorist groups. Regretting that the report by the UN special rapporteur has been compiled based on sources who have a record of crimes, terrorist acts and inhuman acts, he said Iran regarded such reports and this type of dealing with human rights issue as incorrect. Mehmanparast stressed that Iran acted with high responsibility to protect human rights in all countries and is engaged in very remarkable activities in the field inside the country as well. He further underlined Iran’s readiness to cooperate with human rights bodies like the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights. The spokesman also noted that any honest human rights rapporteur should take into consideration the assassination of Iranian nuclear scientists./end
