FM Spokesman Voices Optimism About Upcoming Iran-G5+1 Talks

Tehran, May 6, IRNA – Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast voiced his optimism about an end to Westˈs stalemate with Iran over the latterˈs peaceful nuclear technology. ˈI see the path to reaching an agreement with the Group 5+1 (US, Russia, China, Britain, France and Germany) as very close on the condition that the prevalent atmosphere of talks be logical and based on the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and also on the rights of the member-states,ˈ Mehmanparast said on Sunday. ˈIranˈs top nuclear negotiator Saeed Jalili and EU Foreign Policy Chief Catherine Ashton are slated to meet in Istanbul, Turkey, on May 15,ˈ the diplomat added. He noted that Iran expects the continuation of logical approach which can result in an agreed solution by both sides is ultimately the best way for achieving an acceptable result which recognizes Iranˈs inalienable rights to nuclear technology./end
