FM: Tehran Summit Communique Approved Without Reservation

Tehran, Sept 2, IRNA – Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi said the biggest achievement of Tehran summit meeting was the fact that the final communiqué was approved without any reservation. He said that Tehran meeting had important achievements and the documents and content of the communiqué indicate this importance. Salehi said for the first time, special attention was paid to Palestine issue and five special measures were proposed in this concern. He added in the report of 'Special Rapporteur', it has been said that chairman of the NAM should consult with the countries which are interested in Syrian issue and prepare a report. Also, it was decided that a special working group to be established in New York to fulfill motto of the meeting; 'Lasting Peace through Joint Global Governance', because the movement, since its beginning, was seeking this motto and rejection of hegemony of world powers. He stressed that grounds for formation of working groups were envisaged in the final communiqué in cases like revising the UN structure and promotion of NAM position. Answering a question concerning certain statements and analyses in the West about Tehran meeting, Salehi said that some of the analyses are not fair and impartial and there are political demands in them. The senior diplomat said that even a number of western media called the event as a victory of Iran against the West. He appreciated Supreme Leader for his valuable guidelines, the nation, police and volunteer forces, Islamic Revolution Guard Corps and all ministries, bodies, and organizations for helping do everything in the best manner. He also appreciated domestic media for vast coverage of the news./end
