FM Ts.Munkh-Orgil attending 23rd OSCE Ministerial Council meeting

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The 23rd Meeting of the Ministerial Council of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) kicked off on December 8 in Hamburg, Germany. Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia Ts.Munkh-Orgil is taking part in this meeting which brought together delegates from 57 OSCE member states and 11 partner states as well as international organizations. At the session, held this morning, FM Ts.Munkh-Orgil gave an address expressing the position of Mongolia. He said the new cabinet formed as a result of the 2016 parliamentary elections of Mongolia has been carrying on the open and multi-pillared foreign policy, with special accents on deepening the strategic partnerships and boosting economic ties with the People’s Republic of China and the Russian Federation. Moreover, he added, Mongolia has been attaching a great significance to intensifying cooperation with Japan, USA, India, South Korea and European Union in the margin of the “third neighbor” policy. Mr Ts.Munkh-Orgil confirmed Mongolia’s commitment to broaden ties with OSCE and other regional organizations. The Foreign Minister of Mongolia said it is suitable to consolidate the security cooperation for settling the regional conflicts and crises by peaceful means in these times of rapid global development, and highlighted the importance of building OSCE’s capacity for safeguarding economic and human securities. After this, the Minister held bilateral meetings with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary, Mr P.Szijjarto, Belarusian counterpart V.Makei, Polish counterpart W. Waszczykowski, Austrian FM S.Kurz, and German FM F.Steinmeier, OSCE’s Secretary General L.Zannier and NATO’s Deputy Secretary General R.Gottemoeller.
