FM Urges Muslim Media To Help Promote Unity Among Muslims

Tehran, May 26, IRNA – Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif on Monday asked visiting representatives of radio and TV stations from 30 Islamic countries to help consolidate unity among Muslims. He made the remarks in the 7th General Assembly of the Islamic Radio and Television Union currently underway in Tehran. By adopting a logical approach, Iran could neutralize Zionistsˈ plots, aimed at spreading Islamophobia and Iranophobia around the world, Zarif noted. He referred to discord and sectarian conflicts as biggest challenges that Muslim world is facing today. Muslim media should play its role in denouncing extremism and sectarian violence, Zarif asserted. He underscored that Muslim media should show the merciful face of Islam and defend rights of Muslims, including Palestinians, by their news and reports. The 7th General Assembly of the Islamic Radio and Television Union opened in Tehran in the presence of President Hassan Rouhani Sunday morning.
