FM Wang Yi: China is ready to develop cooperation with Azerbaijan

Baku, March 14 AZERTAC China is ready to develop cooperation with Azerbaijan even further, said Foreign Minister of China Wang Yi in meeting with his Azerbaijani counterpart Elmar Mammadyarov. Wang Yi said his country attached great importance to development of transport routes and highlighted cooperation between the two countries within the international organizations. On relations between both countries, the FM praised signing a Memorandum with Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) on granting the partner dialogue status to Azerbaijan. Mr. Mammadyarov recalled President Ilham Aliyev`s China visit, adding this trip contributed to development of cooperation between the two countries. The Minister said both countries supported the territorial integrity, sovereignty, borders` inviolability of each other. On development of bilateral economic relations, Mr. Mammadyarov stressed the role of Joint Inter-Governmental Commission in this regard. The Minister said the country supported the Silk Road Economic Belt project initiated by China, adding Azerbaijan is a vital part of East-West, North-South transport corridors. The Minister highlighted the cause and consequences of Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, adding the problem threats the regional peace and security.
