FM WORKS IN SAN FRANCISCO

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ On the sidelines of his visit to the USA, the Foreign Minister L.Purevsuren has visited the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco. At a meeting with museum director Jay Xu the FM said he is glad to have a chance to visit the museum that displays the largest number of Asian art-pieces in the USA, and requested the museum to put all exhibits connected to Mongolia in one place. Mr Purevsuren also gave information on Mongolia’s "soft power" and policies to create national image through advertizing the national arts and culture, and proposed mounting an joint independent exhibition about Mongolian culture at this museum. The Asian Art Museum of San Francisco was established in 1966. It has over 18 thousand art and culture showpieces, concerning over six thousand years of the Asian history. In 1995, the first independent exhibition about Mongolia called “Mongolia: Chingis Khaan’s Heritage” was displayed. After this, the Minister met with the leaders of Bay Area Mongolians to talk about the state policies on protecting our citizens who study/work abroad and on promoting their organizations. Present at this meeting were officials from the General Consulate of Mongolia in San Francisco.
