FNC Speaker and Italian counterpart discuss boosting cooperation

ROME, 12th October, 2016 (WAM) -- Dr. Amal Abdullah Al Qubaisi, Speaker of the Federal National Council, FNC, and her accompanying delegation, has held official talks with Pietro Grasso, President of the Senate of Italy. During the meeting, which took place in Rome, the two sides stressed the importance of establishing UAE-Italian Parliamentary Friendship Society, highlighting the outstanding role played by friendship societies in promoting cooperation and exchanging experiences, along with facilitating cooperation mechanisms for the benefit and interest of both countries and peoples. The two sides also highlighted the importance of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces' visit to Italy and the Vatican, where they stressed that Sheikh Mohamed's meeting with the pope showed a message of peace and tolerance to the world and humanity as a whole. The meeting, which took place on the side-lines of the FNC Speaker's official visit to Italy, dealt with the UAE’s efforts in combating extremism and terrorism ideals. The meeting also touched on the UAE's keenness to promote international peace and security, communication and human civilisation and culture with the countries and peoples of the world. Dr. Al Qubaisi conveyed the greetings of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, as well as those of the Emirati people, to the leadership, government and people of Italy. The FNC Speaker also highlighted the outstanding historical relations between the two countries, noting the importance of these ties and their development and promotion on the level of leadership, which reflected positively on the level of political and economic relations as well as parliamentary and cultural ones.
