FNC speaker hails UAE-China excellent relations

ABU DHABI, 22nd August, 2016 (WAM) --- Dr. Amal Abdullah Al Qubaisi, Speaker of the Federal National Council (FNC), has hailed the overall progress made by bilateral relations between the UAE and China in the political, economic, trade, educational and parliamentary spheres in particular. She was speaking during a meeting at the FNC with the Chinese ambassador to the UAE, Chang Hua, who was on a courtesy visit to mark the end of his tenure in the country. Al Qubaisi highlighted the role played by parliaments and parliamentary diplomacy in enhancing communication between states and cultures, in particular in the current political situation in the region and global terrorism where terrorist militias take advantage of political agendas and seek to distort the image of Islam. She noted that the latest visit of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, to China was an important opportunity to forge a number of strategic development and investment partnerships to expand trade, economic and cultural exchange between the two countries and promote political, industrial and investment co-operation. She further underlined the importance of setting up a Chinese-UAE parliamentary friendship committee to enhance parliamentary relations and enable the two countries to co-ordinate their positions on various issues. For his part, the Chinese ambassador thanked the leaders, government, and people of the UAE for supporting him during his tenure in the UAE. "I worked in several countries in the region, but the UAE emerged as a model for advanced states, in tolerance, co-existence and communication with other states," he said. He also praised the FNC for playing a role in promoting relations between the UAE and China. He further praised the UAE for empowering citizens to take an active part in the overall development. – Emirates News Agency, WAM - http://www.wam.ae/en/news/emirates/1395298994081.html
