FOC Ministerial Meeting concluded

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Fifth Ministerial Meeting of the Online Freedom Coalition (FOC) was held on May 4-5 at the State House in Ulaanbaatar. The opening remarks were made by Mr Ts.Elbegdorj, the President of Mongolia, and by L.Purevsuren, Mongolia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, under topics “Internet Policy: Best practices in promoting online freedom”, and “Liberal and Reliable internet communication, Electronic technology development and transparency, Individual privacy in online environment and transparency”. Mr Elbegdorj underlined that Mongolia aspires to collaborate with countries in supporting the online freedom. Mongolia has been backing the online freedom within the key aim to protect human rights, the FM said and highlighted that the democracy is not limited by a right of electing or being elected, so it covers rights of giving speech and expressing one’s rights. The Ministerial Meeting brought together some 400 delegates of over 70 countries and high officials such as the Vice Foreign Minister of Estonia and the US Special Envoy and Coordinator for International Energy Affairs, representatives of Google, Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, Mozilla, the UNICEF, UNESCO, the Asia Foundation, the Amnesty International, the Human Rights Watch” and “Digital Partners Global” civil society and research organizations. The Chairman of the State Great Khural (parliament) Z.Enkhbold made the closing remarks at the FOC Ministerial Meeting.
