Foke-Nara Ready For Run-Off

Jakarta, July 12 (ANTARA) - Fauzi Bowo and Nachrowi Ramli have expressed their readiness to fight during the run-off ever since quick counts showed them finish second to Joko Widodo and Basuki Rjahja Purnama in the race for Jakarta`s governorship and vice-governorship on Wednesday. According to quick counts, Jokowi and his running mate Basuki "Ahok" Tjahja Purnama won 40 to 44 percent of the votes while Fauzi Bowo (Foke) and Nara bagged between 30 to 35 percent of them. At a press conference held at their headquarters, Foke and Nara expressed their readiness to compete with Jokowi and Ahok in the September run-off. Speaking on the occasion, Foke who is the incumbent governor expressed his gratefulness to the voting process which was carried out smoothly and in an orderly way. "This should be the pride of all Jakarta residents," he said. He said the winner of the elections must win 50-percent-plus-one of the total votes and having considered the results of quick counts, there would certainly be a run-off. He claimed that the results of quick counts reflected the aspirations of the Jakarta residents for the next Jakarta governor. Foke also expressed his appreciation of his supporters for their hard work, cooperation and consistency in following the rules. "We do not violate the rules. So, let us maintain the spirit. The fight has not yet finished. Let us wait for the run-off and God willingly, we will be the winners," he said. He called on all people to continue their efforts in the capital so that the results would remain conducive. "Do not give any opportunity to anyone who wishes to disrupt the situation," he said. Nara also expressed his optimism in winning the ticket during the run-off. "There was only a slight difference in numbers. We also know of potential supporters who would come to us," he said.
