Foreign ministers of Iran, Egypt, Turkey meet on Syria in New York

TEHRAN,Sept.30(MNA) – A foreign ministerial meeting of a contact group on Syria comprising Egypt, Iran, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia was held in New York on Saturday, during which the crisis in Syria was discussed. Quoting Egyptian Foreign Ministry spokesman Amr Roshdy,Saudi Arabian Foreign Minister Saud al-Faisal did not attend the meeting. The foreign ministers of Egypt, Iran, and Turkey had held a meeting in Cairo on September 17. The Saudi Arabian foreign minister was scheduled to attend the meeting in Cairo, but neither he nor any other Saudi Arabian official attended the meeting. Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi had put forward the proposal for the establishment of the contact group during an emergency Islamic summit that was held in Mecca on August 14 and 15.
