Foreign States Representatives Attend RI's Presidential Inauguration

Jakarta, Oct 20 (Antara) - Several heads of state and representatives of Indonesia`s partner countries arrived at the People`s Consultative Assembly`s (MPR`s) parliamentary building, here on Monday, to attend the inauguration ceremony of President-elect Joko Widodo. US State Secretary John Kerry arrived at around 9:25 a.m. local time, wearing a dark grey suit and a light blue tie. Singapore`s Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Brunei Darussalam`s Sultan Hasanal Bolkiah arrived together at the venue and waved to the press who waited in front of the hall. Soon after the arrival of the dignitaries from Singapore and Brunei Darussalam, Australia`s Prime Minister Tony Abbot arrived and entered the hall. Other heads of state who attended the inauguration included Papua New Guinea`s Governor General Michael Ogio, Malaysia`s Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak, and former prime minister of Japan and special envoy Yasuo Fukuda. New Zealand`s Foreign Affairs Minister Murray McCully and the United Kingdom`s Foreign Affairs Minister William Hague were also present during the presidential inauguration. Jokowi was inaugurated as Indonesia`s seventh president on October 20, 2014, after he won the presidential election on July 9. He and Vice President-elect Jusuf Kalla secured 70,997,833 votes, or 53.15 percent of the total 133,574,277 votes, while their rivals, Prabowo Subianto and his partner Hatta Rajasa, garnered 62,576,444 votes, or 46.85 percent of the total.
