Former education minister leads second round of South Ossetia presidential election

TBILISI (A.A) - November 28, 2011 - South Ossetia's electoral board said on Monday that the former "education minister" was leading the second round of presidential election in South Ossetia, which has unilaterally declared its independence from Georgia. The "head of the electoral board", Bella Pliyeva, made public the preliminary unofficial results of Sunday's presidential election and said Alla Djioyeva had gained the highest vote. Pliyeva said results in 74 of 86 constituencies had been counted, and accordingly Djioyeva won 56.74 percent of votes, the "emergency situation minister" Anatoly Bibilov got only 40 percent.  Bella Pliyeva said participation in election was 60 percent, and the official results could be made public within five days. Eleven candidates run for presidential election that began on November 13. None of them won enough votes, so second round took place on November 27. In the second round, Bibilov and Djioyeva were the two candidates.
