Former Russian Presidential Advisor: Iranian N-program Is Of Peaceful Nature

Moscow, Aug 13, IRNA - Former Russian President Boris Yeltsins National Security Advisor Dimitri Ryurikov said on Monday that Iranian nuclear program is of peaceful nature. Speaking to IRNA, he said Iran has no plan to proliferate nuclear bomb. He said that Russia believes in peaceful nature of Iranian nuclear program and it has been underlined for many times by Russian President Vladimir Putin. Criticizing various sets of economic sanctions imposed on Iran by the US and its western allies, he said that they adopted illogical approach toward Iran and that such sanctions seek to create problems for Iranian government and nation. He said that the US propaganda over Iranian nuclear program emanated from US hostility with Iran and if nuclear issue were not the case. the US would for sure raise other issue such as human rights to impose sanctions on Iran. Through toughening sanctions against Iran, the US seeks to punish an independent government which it considers opponent to US approach in Middle East, he said. The new Iranian President Hassan Rohani is an experienced politician; he said adding that the Islamic Republic of Iran is ready for the new round of talks with G5+1. We are quite confident that US will rule out Iran's proposal on resolving the the nuclear dispute, he underlined. The US government is to weaken Iranian government and the nuclear dispute is a mere excuse, he said adding that the US treated with Iraq in the same manner and invaded the country under pretext to thwart Iraqi threat of possessing weapons of mass destruction. He advised the international community to welcome the new horizon on resolving the dispute under presidency of President Rohani and not to spoil the current democratic change in Iran./end
