Four Pakistani Police Officers Shot Dead At Check Post

Islamabad, Oct 21, IRNA – Suspected militants have shot dead at least four police officers in the Pakistani city of Peshawar, police and witnesses said. Four gunmen, riding motorcycles, fired at a police post in the outskirts of Peshawar, the capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, a police officer said. The gunmen escaped after the incident. No group claimed responsibility for the attack. The government blames militant groups for such attacks. Relatives of the slain policemen staged demonstration against the attack and demanded arrest of the suspects. They placed bodies of the policemen on the main road and blocked the road as a protest. Taliban routinely target security forces, police, political leaders, tribal elders and government officials in their campaign./end
