Four Shot Dead As Violence Grips Pakistanˈs Karachi After Deadly Attack

Islamabad, March 5, IRNA -- Gunmen, riding on motorcycles, opened fire on the people in the Pakistani port city of Karachi Monday evening, killing Four persons and injuring over 30 others, doctors said. The miscreants also burnt an ambulance and damaged two others when they arrived to shift the injured at Sohrab Goth area of Karachi, police and residents said. Several buses were also torched. Police said that five paramilitary soldiers were also injured. A police officer said that the miscreants also tried to kidnap four policemen but their attempt was foiled. Dr. Muhammad Salik at the cityˈs Abbasi Shaheed Hospital confirmed that two bodies and 22 of the injured victims of the terrorist attack were brought to the hospital. Firing was reported at Al-Asif Square, Sohrab Goth and Abbas Town, where the deadly bomb attacked Sunday killed over 47 people and injured nearly 150 more. The paramilitary soldiers and police forces arrived at the scene and controlled the situation. The police also detained several miscreants. The authorities banned pillion riding in Karachi to check any terrorist attack in view of the tense situation in Karachi, the commercial center of Pakistan./end
