Four UNSC Members Welcome Outcome Of Iranˈs 11th Presidential Election

New York, June 23, IRNA – A group of members of the United Nations Security Council welcomed victory of Hassan Rohani in Iranˈs 11th presidential election expressing optimism about future of the nuclear talks with Tehran. Speaking to IRNA separately, permanent representatives of France, Russia, Pakistan and the US to the Security Council referred to Rohaniˈs election as a chance to find a final solution to the existing challenges between Iran and the West. Russian Ambassador to the UNSC Vitalie Chorkin told IRNA that permanent members of the council (Russia, Britain, France, US and China) that are top members of the nuclear negotiating team with Iran were very much optimistic about the future of talks with Tehran. Meanwhile, Chorkinˈs French counterpart Gerard Araud in his interview with the Iranian state news agency welcomed the president-electˈs recent statements on his nuclear talks with then French president Jacque Chirac in 2005. Rohaniˈs latest comments could be a very good model for the nuclear talks in the future, Araud stressed. Meanwhile, the US Ambassador to the UNSC Susan Rice, who is to appear as the national security advisor to the US President Barack Obama within coming days, refused to make any comments about latest presidential election in Iran with a smile. In another development, Pakistanˈs ambassador to the UNSC referred to the outcome of Iranˈs 11th presidential election as a positive development.
