Friday Prayers Leader Underlines Unity In Presidential Election

Tehran, April 27, IRNA – Tehranˈs Interim Friday Prayers Leader Hojjatolesalm Kazem Seddiqqi underlined maintaining unity and solidarity in the upcoming presidential elections, saying that in the past 34 years, all the candidates enjoyed full freedom in the elections campaigns. Addressing the prayers in Tehran University campus, he added that all the elections in the past 34 years were based on legality. Deploring the events which happened in 2009 after presidential elections in the country, he further noted that any group which intends to create discord in the country is committing treason act against the religion, martyrs and progress and dignity of the country. He also called on the presidential hopefuls to observe ethical values during the election campaigns. Contending that Islam does not consider women as second-rate citizens, Seddiqqi also noted that the West has tyrannized them because it uses them as a means for the sale of their goods. He also hailed the lofty status of teachers on the occasion of ˈTeachers Dayˈ and said that they guide the humanity and bring dignity for them. Referring to the upcoming ˈIslam Ulema Summitˈ, he said that the Islamic Ulema should consider repelling the discords among the Muslims created by the British government. Britain and the Zionist regime have employed a number of marionette scholars to plunder Saudi Arabiaˈs oil and sow rift among the Muslims, he said./end
