Funeral Procession For Iran Diplomat Held In Tehran

Tehran, Jan 22, IRNA – The funeral procession of Iranian diplomat, assassinated in Sanaˈa last Saturday, held in Tehran Wednesday morning. Several Iranian top officials including Vice President Majid Ansari, Intelligence Minister Seyyed Mahmoud Alavi, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Marziyeh Afkham, Deputy Foreign Minister for Consular, Parliamentary and Expatriates affairs, Hassan Qashqavi, as well as a number of employees of the foreign ministry were present in the ceremony. Abolqassem Assadi, 57, financial and consulate officer of Iran’s embassy in Sana’a was assassinated by gunmen in the center of the city on Jan 18. Foreign Ministry, in a statement, by condemning the terrorist act, called for serious investigating of the case, trial and punishment of the perpetrators of such an inhuman act. Yemen charge d’affaires in Tehran was summoned to Foreign Ministry and received Iran’s strong protest concerning the terrorist act./end
