G20 summit significant and reflects Russia’s interests - Putin

HANGZHOU /China/, September 5 /TASS/. The participants in the G20 summit in Hangzhou did significant and substantial job in the interests of all countries, including Russia, Russian President Vladimir Putin told a news conference devoted to results of the G20 summit. "Its work was quite serious and substantial and reflected the true interests of the G20 member states, including Russia," the Russian leader said. He emphasized that the summit focused on key items on the agenda, including development of world economy. "It is clear that yesterday’s instruments - though they may not have corroded completely - have become little effective," Putin said commenting on ways of ensuring economic growth. That is why the G20 summit discussed the sources of growth, which are considered to be most promising in a long-term perspective: innovations (including information exchanges in this sphere; scientific cooperation; civilized patent protection, etc); the creation of uniform rules in the sphere of investments and ways of ensuring the principles of development with a set of necessary components. "What I also consider to be useful and important for us is that we went ahead with our discussion and confirmed the conclusions, which we had made during our presidency at the G20 (in 2013)," the Russian head of state said adding that he meant problems like tax evasion, etc. Other topics for discussion included problems hindering global development such as uncontrollable migration, regional problems, terrorism and environmental protection. "Everything is set forth in the materials and documents adopted (on results of G20 summit)," Putin concluded. Read more
