G5+1 Proposals Not Against Iranˈs Rights: FM Spokesman

Tehran, March 6, IRNA – Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast said on Tuesday that proposals put forward by G5+1 were not against Iranian nationˈs rights. Mehmanparast made the remarks in his weekly briefing. In reply to a question about Iranian foreign ministerˈs recent remarks about gradual removal of sanctions on Iran and their connection with Iran-G5+1 talks in Almaty, he said that G5+1ˈs attitude toward Iran in Almaty was different from the past and seemed more logical and if they translate their words into action, the sanctions will fade away. Elaborating on step-by-step strategy toward a breakthrough, he said that the two sides are expected to adopt measures in harmony with the steps taken by the other. ˈIn each step we should remove the ambiguities and G5+1 should put away pressures and wrong actions.ˈ The difference between Almaty talks and the two previous nuclear talks was that they did not talk about halting nuclear activities as a precondition, he noted. He evaluated the atmosphere of Almaty talks as positive, saying ˈWe are optimistic about the future of talks and if the current approach continues we will reach consensus.ˈ On Bahrain crisis, he said that Iran has already announced its stand in this regard. ˈWe do not interfere in other countryˈs internal affairs.ˈ He advised certain regional countriesˈ officials to meet legitimate demands of their people, instead of resorting to clampdown and foreign military interference. Criticizing the Bahraini government for raising false allegations against Iran, he said that the Bahraini government should go ahead with national reconciliation rather than bringing charges against Iran to divert attention from internal problems. Commenting on Bahraini foreign ministerˈs remarks about the three Iranian islands, he said that this is a clear interference in Iranˈs internal affairs and we have firmly announced our stands in this regard. On Saudi Arabian foreign ministerˈ remarks about recent Iran-G5+1 talks, he said that such remarks are made because they are concerned about resolving issues between Iran and G5+1. He voiced Iranˈs readiness to enhance relations with regional governments to highest level./end
