German ambassador visits Tehran Times, Mehr news agency

TEHRAN,June 12(MNA) - Michael von Ungern-Sternberg, the German ambassador to Tehran, visited the offices of Tehran Times and Mehr news agency on Wednesday. Ungern-Sternberg held talks with Mehr and Tehran Times director Ali Asghari. They exchanged views on cultural affinities and historical ties between Germany and Iran. Asghari said Iranians have a positive view toward Germany. Asghari also said media can play an important role in demonstrating realities in countries and rectify wrong assumptions created through propaganda. Ambassador Ungern-Sternberg called Iran an important country with great workforce and said Iran and Germany have good memories of cooperation especially in technical and economic areas. This good memory still exists, the envoy noted. He also said the Iranian great market is a good opportunity for foreign investors. The German diplomat also cited culture and language as two important factors for a better understanding of nations from each other. The envoy also praised the Iranian youth’s enthusiasm for learning the German language and studying in German universities, especially in technical and scientific fields.
