German FM Condoles With Iranian Counterpart On Deadly Quake

Tehran, Aug 15, IRNA – German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle in a message to Foreign Minister Ali-Akbar Salehi condoled with the Iranian nation and government on the killer quake northwest of Iran, which claimed lives of many citizens. Westerwelle said his country is ready to offer any aid to victims of the quake, which claimed the lives of at least 227 people and flattened scores of villages in the northwest of the country. Westerwelle said in a letter to his Iranian counterpart Ali Akbar Salehi that he was "shocked" by the news of the disastrous twin quakes on Saturday. "I extend my deep condolences to the people who have lost their beloved ones and belongings during the fasting month of Ramadan," Westerwelle wrote in the letter released by his office. He wished the injured quick recovery and said Germany is ready to help Iran in this difficult time./end
