Germany Reaffirms Commitment To Resolve Iran Nuclear Issue

Berlin, July 8, IRNA - Germany and the five UN veto powers (Britain, China, France, Russia and the United States) remain committed to resolving the Iranian nuclear impasse, a German official said here Monday. Talking to the press in the German capital, deputy foreign ministry spokeswoman Sawsan Chebli said that the six world powers were ˈdetermined and bent onˈ reaching a nuclear agreement with Tehran by the July 20 deadline when the interim accord expires. Referring to the ongoing marathon nuclear talks in Vienna, Chebli labeled these negotiations ˈvery intense and focused.ˈ Chebli said the Vienna talks dwelt on drafting the text for a permanent agreement, pointing to ˈvery thorough and detailedˈ negotiations. Asked by IRNA whether German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier would join the talks at some point of the negotiation process, Chebli replied there were no concrete plans yet for such a trip to Vienna. In the nuclear talks between Iran and six world powers, differences remain reportedly on a number of key issues./end
