Germany To Sell Warships To Israel: Report

Berlin, Dec 9, IRNA -- Germany is to sell two warships to Israel worth one billion euros, the daily Bild newspaper reported Saturday. Fitted with missiles, the battle ships are supposedly to be deployed to protect Israeli gas pipelines. According to Bild, Israeli government security advisor Yossi Cohen held talks on the deal in Berlin last week. A German government spokeswoman confirmed to Bild that such a meeting did take place but did not reveal details of the talks. A major arms supplier of the Zionist regime, Berlin rarely talks in public about military deals as most of them are shrouded in utmost secrecy in a bid not to antagonize Muslim and Arab states. The German government refuses also to reveal the actual volume of weapon sales to the illegal Jewish state. German peace groups have repeatedly slammed arms exports to Israel since the German constitution bans the sale of weapons to a crisis region./end
