GERMANY STATISTICS DELEGATION VISITING

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Upon invitation of the National Statistical Commission (NSC) Chair S.Mendsaikhan, a Germany delegation led by Federal Statistical Office (FSO) president Mr Roderich Egeler is visiting Mongolia these days. The delegation includes Ms Sibylle von Oppeln-Bronikowski, a Head of the Department for Strategy and Planning, International Relations, Research and Communication; Ms Simone Koll, a Head of the International Cooperation Section of FSO, and Mr Mustafa Dinc, a Senior Economist and Statistician at the World Bank. During the visit, the delegation will discuss with NSC officers the implementation of joint projects including the Monstat project (Strengthening the National Statistical System of Mongolia), for which an agreement was signed between the Mongolian Government and the World Bank on June 26 of 2009. A project implementation contract followed the above agreement in 2010 to launch the project in Mongolia. Coinciding with the visit, the eighth semi-annual Monstat project consortium coordination meeting is taking place in Ulaanbaatar to discuss the project that aims at improving efficiency and effectiveness of the national statistical system of Mongolia to enable it to provide relevant, timely and reliable data for evidence-based policy making.
