Germany On Terror Alert For Champions League Public Viewing

Berlin, May 26, IRNA -- German authorities issued a terror warning for public viewings of the Champions League final later this evening, the online site of the weekly news magazine Der Spiegel cited Germanyˈs Federal Criminal Police (BKA) as saying Saturday. According to the report, German football fans could be the target of terrorist attacks as they watch the live television broadcast of Saturdayˈs Champions League final between Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund at Londonˈs Wembley Stadium. The BKA had reportedly received what it labeled ˈseriousˈ indications about such a terror plot. BKA head Joerg Ziercke had informed federal and state interior ministries about the plans during a confidential meeting Friday, said Der Spiegel. Meanwhile, German police has stepped up security across the country at public events as hundreds of thousands of German fans are expected to the public viewing locations to watch the all-out German Champions League final./end
