Golden opportunity must be seized to settle N-dispute: Daily

Tehran, Oct 29, IRNA - 'Iran Daily' on Wednesday commended the Islamic Republic's new negotiating team, that was formed after 11 years of trial and error, for managing to make a historic breakthrough in nuclear talks by signing the Geneva deal through tireless efforts. But despite the achievements made, domestic and foreign radicals are causing concern with their negative approach that’s aimed at throwing a wrench in nuclear talks, regretted the paper, reminding domestic radicals not to forget that the negotiating team works under the direct supervision of the country’s highest-ranking officials. Undoubtedly, Iran had 200 centrifuges a decade ago but now the number of spinning enrichment machines is sufficient to meet the country’s needs. Moreover, last year’s interim accord led to the partial removal of sanctions and the release of Iran’s blocked assets, brought hope for a boom in economy, underscored the English-language paper in its Opinion column. Now as the deadline approaches for settlement of the nuclear dispute, it would do well if the golden opportunity is seized to preserve Iran’s right to peaceful nuclear energy forever through an international deal, added the paper. After over a decade of disputes, those who once took Iran’s nuclear dossier to the UN Security Council, now actively seek to clinch a final accord within the November 24 deadline. The P5+1 has spared no effort to impose as much restrictions as possible on Iran’s nuclear work but now desperately seeks to close the case as it has been prolonged unnecessarily and become extremely costly for them, it said. All parties involved now talk about the necessity of sealing a comprehensive agreement. Although, the US, as the leading member of the P5+1, has said that it would be Iran’s responsibility if nuclear negotiations fail, its senior diplomats and even President Barack Obama have talked about a ‘golden opportunity’ that should not be missed. The Middle East has become a source of global concern and everyone tries to find solutions to the crises in the restless region and restore stability there. That’s why major powers prefer to sit down for talks with Iran as the main regional power, the paper said in conclusion./end
