Government of Dubai Media Office releases Year Book 'Scenes from Journey of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid'

Dubai, Jan 10, 2012 (WAM) - The Government of Dubai Media Office (GDMO), has released its annual book featuring the official activities of UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum during the year 2010. Written in the backdrop of the historical successes achieved by Dubai and the UAE during the past year, the newly-released publication, entitled 'Scenes from a Journey', chronicles the Dubai Ruler's movements and accomplishments throughout the calendar year. The book renders a comprehensive account of Sheikh Mohammed's endeavours during 2010, including photographic documentation of his meetings with kings, presidents and leaders from around the world, as well as his attendance at the year's most important summits and events. Readers are given special access to the key meetings taking place during 2010, as the annual book features Sheikh Mohammed in discussions with such notables as former President Hosni Mubarak of Egypt, Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain, President Pratibha Patil of India, President Olafur Ragnar Grimsson of Iceland and President Karolos Papoulias of Greece, in addition to numerous other international leaders. Sheikh Mohammed's involvement in high profile sporting occasions and his participation in forums with heads of UAE federal and local government departments are also covered in eye-catching pictorial sequences. The publication's centrepiece revolves around three groundbreaking, historical achievements that stand out in a year filled with distinction and progress; the opening of the tallest man-made structure on Earth, the 828 meter Burj Khalifa, which attracted world-wide acclaim and attention; the completion of the first phase of Al Maktoum International Airport, soon to be the largest passenger and cargo airport in the world; and the inauguration of Meydan Racecourse for the Dubai World Cup, thus cementing the emirate's leading position in the international sporting arena. Another Historical landmark reached in 2010 saw Sheikh Mohammed witness the signing of US$13.9 billion worth of contracts between Emirates Airlines and Airbus on the sidelines of the Dubai International Airshow. The 224 page book goes on to exhibit snapshots of His Highness' participation in a number of conferences, including the Arab-African Summit in Libya, the Summit on the Global Agenda in Dubai, the International SportAccord conference in Dubai, the Big Five Exhibition also in Dubai and the 31 Summit of Gulf Cooperation Countries in Abu Dhabi. Sheikh Mohammed's horsemanship features prominently in the year book, with special attention given to his role in leading the UAE endurance team to victory at the FEI World Equestrian Games held in Lexington Kentucky in September.
