Great Devotion for Solving People's Clothing Problem

Pyongyang, July 5 (KCNA) -- People in the DPRK are recalling with deep emotion the devoted efforts paid by President Kim Il Sung for solving the people's clothing problem, with the approach of his death anniversary (July 8). After the country's liberation from the Japanese colonial rule, Kim Il Sung had paid deep attention to the people's clothing problem. In the wake of the Fatherland Liberation War (1950-1953), he set it as an important state affair. Under his leadership, textile mills were built in different parts of the country in a short span of time. The DPRK people still remember the story about his inspection of islands in the West Sea of Korea. Despite of inclement sea weather and rainstorm, he walked round the muddy islands to solve the problem of reed. He personally planted reed in his garden and observed its biological features for over 20 years. When the production of fiber with reed was put on an industrial basis, he was very pleased to feel relieved from the problem of people's clothing. Thanks to his great loving care for the people, the Juche-based vinalon industry was developed in the DPRK. Indeed, Kim Il Sung was the fatherly leader of all the Korean people. -0-
