Greek Official Praises Iranˈs Contributions To Human History

Athens, March 9, IRNA – Director General of Greece Education Ministry and Religious Affairs George Kaleigis said that Iran is a great country in the world with rich culture, which has greatly contributed to the world community. He made the remarks in a meeting with Iranˈs cultural attaché Mohammad Hossein Mozaffari in Athens. The official underlined necessity of scientific cooperation between the two civilized countries of Iran and Greece and stressed that Iran has an important and principled role in Islamic world and Greece would welcome scientific cooperation with Iran. Referring to necessity of scientific and religious dialogue between scientists and scholars of both countries, he said that religious freedom is observed in Greece, so the Muslim minority can practise their religion freely here. He added that Greece government is to build a mosque in Athens for Muslims residing here. Mozaffari, by referring to the old bilateral relations between the two nations, said that since ancient times Iran and Greece had cultural and scientific relations and cooperation in this field can develop ties between the two civilized nations. Referring to holding several international dialogues between Islam and Orthodox Christianity by Iran, the cultural attaché said that Iran and Iranian scholars have always welcomed to hold such scientific dialogues and expressed hope that such gatherings could be held again./end
