GUAM FMs participate in informal meeting in Prague

Azerbaijan, Baku, March 5 / Trend S. Agayeva / GUAM foreign ministers have met in Prague during an informal meeting of foreign ministers of the Visegrad Group, Denmark, Baltic states and Eastern Partnership countries in the Czech Republic today. This information was posted on the Foreign Ministry's official Twitter webpage. The meeting was headed by Azerbaijan chairing in the organization and represented by Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov. During the visit, Mammadyarov also participated in the working dinner of heads of the delegations of the Visegrad Group, Denmark, Baltic countries and the "Eastern Partnership" countries, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry earlier reported. GUAM was established by post-Soviet countries in 1997 during the EU presidential summit in Strasbourg. In 1999, Uzbekistan joined the organization, and left four years later. A decision was made to announce GUAM as an international organization under the new name, "Organization for Democracy and Economic Development - GUAM," at the organization's first summit in Kiev in 2006.
