Head of EU Delegation hails measures to address refugee and IDP problems in Azerbaijan

Baku, July 4, AZERTAC Head of the European Union (EU) Delegation to Azerbaijan, Ambassador Kestutis Jankauskas has hailed what has been done to address the refugee and IDP problems in Azerbaijan as he met with chairman of the country’s State Committee for Refugee and IDP Affairs Rovshan Rzayev. Ambassador Jankauskas expressed his confidence that close and fruitful relations which exist between Azerbaijan and the EU will continue developing. The ambassador said he will spare no efforts to contribute to the development of Azerbaijan-EU relations. Chairman of the State Committee for Refugee and IDP Affairs Rovshan Rzayev highlighted the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and the problems of the Azerbaijanis who were expelled from their homelands as a result of Armenia's aggression. He noted that for the dispute to be settled Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity must be restored and more than one million refugees and IDPs must return to their native lands. Rzayev hailed the significant measures taken under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev to address the refugee and IDP problems in Azerbaijan. He noted that First Vice President Mehriban Aliyeva also attaches particular attention to addressing these issues. The sides discussed cooperation prospects between Azerbaijan and the EU.
