High Voter Turnout Ensures Political Independence: FM

Tehran, June 15, IRNA – Foreign Minister Ali-Akbar Salehi, after casting his votes in the 11th presidential and 4th city and rural council elections on Friday said that high voter turnout will ensure political independence of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Salehi reiterated that a mechanism to maintain political independence is to take part in the elections which is the symbol of internal might and solidarity. Regretting the move by Ottawa to prevent holding Iranˈs presidential elections, he said the Canadian governmentˈs enmity towards Iran is for no reason. He voiced Iranˈs readiness to have cordial relations with Canada and reiterated that Tehran is willing to remove misunderstandings with Ottawa./end
